On Friday we pulled out our garden to rescue any fruits that were still on there from the evil first frost. Our crop this year, it being our first year, was only tomatoes, tomatillos and peppers. So, we are making a lot of salsa.
Once we got all the food inside the house we started discussing what to do with it all. While we were discussing it, Lauren was pilfering. But was she pilfering a green tomato???? No. She was chewing on a jalapeno. All of a sudden Lauren was screaming, holding her mouth and rolling on the floor. We did everything the nurse suggested; milk, bread, Popsicle. But really it just took time.
We have now given away or frozen the extra peppers. We are going to try our hand at bottling the tomatoes as they ripen.
In other news, Lauren has decided to start making her own jelly sandwiches. I have taken the knife from her a dozen times today. Then she gets another one and starts again. I need a cage for this little imp.

Our bishop's wife brought us a bunch of mysterious peppers from her garden; they were all shapes, sizes, and colors.
While we were driving home, Lyric somehow got a hold of them and began to eat one. Since she didn't start screaming or crying we figured that they weren't that hot. Ha! She either got the only sweet one or she didn't mind how hot they were. We ate some and WOW.
Poor Lauren! But I laughed anyway. Robert says if you find a good cage buy two. We could use one for Gable! If you don't have enough canning jars for your tomatoes, you could try freezing them whole.
